Leonard William Henry Oldag

Leonard William Henry Oldag, son of George and Matilda (Foels) Oldag, was born Aug. 30, 1912 at Postville, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 1993 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville. He was 80.

He was baptized on Oct. 27, 1912 and confirmed Aug. 15, 1926, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He attended the country school near his home.

On Feb. 12, 1935, he was married to Velva Gilson at Rossville, Iowa. They had three children. Velva died Dec. 21, 1958. On Feb. 8, 1964 he married Gretchen (Wolters) Schlitter. Gretchen died Jan. 2, 1969.

Leonard farmed until 1956 when he and his family moved to Postville. Before his retirement, Leonard had worked for C & H Implement, Falb Motor Company, Schroeder's Standard Service and the Home Oil Company.

He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville on March 3, 1990.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, a daughter, Luane, who died July 10, 1947, a brother, Harold Oldag, and a sister, Mildred Kamp.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice and her husband Jim Everman of Marshall, Minn.; a son, John "Jack" Oldag and his wife Nancy of Holt, Mo., five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Diana and her husband Ronald Miller of Monona; four
step-granddaughters and a step-great grandchild.

Funeral services for Leonard Oldag were held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1993 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. R. Michael Brown officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Chad Oldag, Eric Everman, George Oldag, Tom Everman, Dean Oldag and Roy Miller.
