Obituary for Frank Leo Murphy (1895 – 1969) from the Allamakee Journal newspaper reads:

Wexford Farmer Died of Sudden Heart Attack Sat.

Frank L. Murphy, 74, passed away suddenly while in the doctor’s office at Lansing Saturday morning as his wife was waiting for him in their car outside. He had been ill Friday night at home and went to the doctor’s office for medicine. His death was a most profound shock to family and friends and again proves that in life we are in the midst of death.

Deceased was born June 4th, 1895 to pioneer settlers of Lafayette township, Catherine Manning and Patrick Murphy, one of several children. He was educated in the rural schools of the area and on October 23rd, 1928 was united in marriage to Marie Rachor who survives along with their five children: Miss Ann Murphy, Mrs. Richard (Roselia) Netolicky and Ambrose, all of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Lou) Wood, Sterling, Ill. and Francis of LaCrosse. Other immediate survivors include one sister, Mrs. Agnes Mullarkey of Lansing and nine grandchildren. Besides his parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He was an industrious farmer all his life, honest and conscientious, fair and friendly in his dealings and a wide circle of acquaintances will read with regret of his untimely passing.

The funeral services were held at Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford where he had been a lifelong member, at ten-thirty yesterday morning with Father Francis Perry offering the Mass of Requiem and saying the final prayers at the graveside in the adjoining cemetery. Carrying his mortal remains to their resting place were Dayton Schellschmidt, Leroy Ellenbolt, Ray Crowe, Harold Manning, Lawrence McGovern and Joe Troendle.
