GEORGE RICHARD HARRIS

George Richard Harris, 56, Lemoore, CA, died July 5. He was a former resident of Postville.

He was born in Postville in 1923, the son of Obert and Clara Harris. He married Wanda Wardel in California and had lived in Lemoore for the past 18 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired chief petty officer with years of service. He was a member of the Gardner Masonic Lodge of Gardner, KS; Fleet Reserve Association Branch 261; and Military Order of the Louse, Turtle hut No. 36 of Hanford, CA.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Susette Sylvester and Brenda Stoddard, both of Lemoore; two grandchildren; five brothers, Milo of Lynxville, WI. Virgil of Bloomingdale, IL, Robert of Postville, Don of San Pedro, CA, and Russell of Manchester; five sisters, Gertrude Bluck of Preston, MN, Beulah Schultz of Cresco, Ruth Burnham of Sparta, WI, Hazel Pearcy of Electra, TX, and Lula Kruse of Luana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leo.

Military services were held at 1 p.m. July 9 in Phipps-Dale Chapel. Burial was in the Lemoore Cemetery.
