LLOYD G. "Curly" ELLIS

Lloyd G. "Curly" Ellis was born December 7, 1922 in Postville, the son of John Pearl and Carrie Jane Taylor Ellis. He died December 29, 1996 in Moline, IL where he resided. He was 74

Memorial services were held January 3 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.

He was married to Betty Ziegler September 11, 1947 in Postville.

He retired in 1974 from John Deere Plow Planter in Moline after 24 years of service. He had also owned and operated a garage and was a mechanic in Postville and former French and Hick in Davenport.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and a former church council member, also a member of Middlers of the church and a member of the Moline American Legion Post #246 and the Local UAW.

He enjoyed working on cars, bowling and playing pool, helping neighborhood friends and the church league softball.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Dawn and Terry Ziegler of Moline and Shari Herron of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Nick and Jeff Ziegler of Moline, Alonda Dean and Crystal Herron of San Diego; two great grandchildren, Lonnie and Shannon Dean of San Diego; five foster grandchildren Christine and Michael Gray of Moline; Robert Bazer, Arial Hanson and Amber Hanson, all of Moline and two sisters, Iva Bruckner of Fort Meyers, Fla. and Naomi Huff of Diamond City, Ark.
