Death of Willard Kerndt

The sad news of the demise of this loved son and brother, calledin just the bloom of early manhood, reached this city Sunday abd cast a gloom upon the relatives and friends of the young man. For two weeks he fought valiantly against the attacks of pneumonia, but the disease proved too strong, and on Oct. 5th he gave up the struggle and surrendered himself into the hand of God. (Here is hand written, 1 o'clock).

Williard Henry Kerndt was born in Makee township Nov. 18, 1902 and thus at the time was 21 years, 10 months, and 17 days old. He was the beloved son of Wm. H. and Lena Kerndt, and follows his dear mother who preceded him in death by just one year, having died Oct. 5, 1923. There live to mourn his departure his father, four brothers, Herman, Leslie, Theo. and Clarence, and one sister, Marie, besides a host of good friends and relatives. He was a good son, a generous brother, a faithful friend. Quiet and retiring in spirit, he was clean in life and sober in thought and judgement. He will be missed by those who knew him best, and our hearts go out in deepest sympathy and condolence to his loved ones who have been deprived of his bodily presence and cheerful helpfulness.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, Rev Krebs officiating and interment in the German cemetery on Lansing Ridge.
