Maxine Blakeman
Maxine Blakeman passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Plaza West Regional Health Center. She was 89.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10 at Dove Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd, Topeka, KS 66617 or Cat Association of Topeka, 1719 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66614. Dove Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born on April 17, 1919 in Kansas City, Mo., to Leslie James Masonhall and Esther Ellen (Hathaway) Masonhall. Mrs. Blakeman grew up and attended school in Postville.
On September 23, 1940, she married Glen D. Blakeman in Waterloo. She was a fine artist and attended Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a brother Winfield Masonhall.
She is survived by her husband, Glen D. Blakeman; sons, Michael Glen Blakeman of Topeka, Kan., and Robert Joseph Blakeman of Hot Springs, Calif.
