Lois E. Phipps

Lois E. Phipps, 84, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, in Iowa City, after a brief illness. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15 at Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Amunson.

Lois was born July 30, 1924 in Chillicothe, MO, the daughter of Clyde and Lena Burner Siders. She married Warren A. Phipps February 14, 1945 in South Beaver Baptist Parsonage in Boone County.

Lois is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Dyersville and past member of Ridgeport, South Beaver, Burnside, and Ames Baptist Churches. Lois also held many positions in the Sunday school, Bible study groups and women's church groups.

She greatly enjoyed her family and was as involved as she could be with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included cooking family dinners, knitting, crocheting and reading.

Survivors include her daughters, Ellen L. Boker of Otho and Claudia S. (Bill) Heiderscheit of Dyersville; one son, Craig A. (Debra) Phipps, DVM of Waukon; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, Mark (Kerri) Boker and their children, Kalib, Kyra and Keely, of Rolfe; Jason (Nicole) Boker and their son, Joel, of Ankeny; Chad (Erica) Boker and their children, Molly and Lily, of Ankeny; Josh Phipps of Waukon, and Kaitlin (fiance Brian Melcher) Phipps of Monona; one brother, C.L. "Larry" Siders; two sisters, Nell (Cal) Borrusch and Merna Crapser; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; her parents; two sisters, Verna Siders in infancy and Isabelle (Eldon) Norman; three brothers, Cleveland R. "Bud", Hobert and Jesse Siders; a brother-in-law, Donald Crapser; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Siders.
