Obituary from Waukon Republican Standard May 2, 1950

Charles Stock, 85, Dies on Monday

Charles Stock, 85, another lifelong resident of Allamakee county, died Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at his home on East Main street, due to heart complications developing the past year.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Stock, early settlers in Jefferson township, where he was born June 1, 1864. That vicinity was his home until he came to Waukon in 1916.

His life was filled with activities; on the farm in his younger years and after retiring he still "enjoyed work" and it was only within the past year that he gave up being caretaker of Zion reformed church, performing those duties for 23 years.

On March 21, 1895, his marriage to Louise Hansmeier took place at her parental home and for fifty-five years she has been his constant companion.

Mrs. Stock, 80 years of age, survives with their only daughter, Mrs Everett Leas of Waukon. A son Carl died in 1918. Others living are four brothers, T.B. Stock, Decorah, August and Louis, Waukon, and Ed of Borger, Texas. Two sisters, Sophia Stock and Mrs. Fred Steffen of Diller, Neb., preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Martin's funeral home and two o'clock at Zion Reformed church, conducted by Rev. Edmund Hennig. Burial in Oakland cemetery with the following pall bearers: Harvey and Earl Stock, Calvin and Alfred Hansmeier, Otto Nolting and Earl Miller.
