Funeral services for Leslie E. Poesch were held Friday, Jan. 28, 1983 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. The Reverend Dennis E. Morey officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Leslie Edward Poesch, son of Edward and Melvina (Meier) Poesch, was born Aug. 13, 1919 at Postville, Iowa. He passed away January 24, 1983 at Milwaukee County General Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He graduated from Postville Community Schools and served in the U. S. Army during W.W. II. On Dec. 18, 1948 he was married to Bernice Brainard. To this union five children were born.

Les has lived in this community all his life and was employed by the Postville Telephone Company for 35 years. In 1976 they moved to a family farm north of Postville.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, serving on the Board of Trustees and as an Elder on the Church Session. Les was active in the community and served on the City Council, as a Volunteer Fireman, a Cub Scout Troop Leader, and was a member of the American Legion.

In his retirement he drove a bus for Postville Community Schools. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Anne Catherine, in infancy, and a brother, Lyle.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice, two sons, Lowell and his wife, Sally, of Decorah, and Charles, a student at Luther College, two daughters, Mrs. Miron (Elaine) Walker and her husband of Oelwein, and Dr. Donna Poesch-Jerome and her husband, Dr. Peter Jerome, of Milwaukee, WI, two grandchildren, Casey and Carrie Walker, a sister, Jessie Poesch of New Orleans, LA, and a niece, Carol Barron of Clinton, MO.
