Grandma Biggs Called to Her Reward

The death of Mrs. David Biggs* occurred at her home at Rossville on May 6, 1924, at the age of nearly 84 years. Deceased was born June 18, 1810, near Washington, Pa., and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fitch, to Monona in 1855, and on August 14th of that year she was united in marriage with David Biggs at Prairie du Chien. They lived for years in the vicinity of Volney, coming to Rossville a few years ago, where in March 1914, Mr. Biggs passed away.

To this worthy couple ten children were born, eight of whom are still living to mourn the departure of a dear mother, namely, Mesdames Jennie Skinner, Nancy Canfield, Ula Deemer, and Carrie Pufahl of Rossville; Thomas of Bakersfield, Calif; William of Monona; Mrs. Cora Foote of Waterloo, and Clarence of Fargo, ND. There are also eight grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Guinn of Laporte, Ind., and Mrs. Belle Reid of St. LOuis.

Deceased was for many years a member of the Methodist Church, having joined at Volney in 1890, and was active in church and Sunday School work as long as her health and strength would permit. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Rossville on Sunday, conducted by Rev. VanNice, with burial in the cemetery nearby.
