Mary Ryan Last Rites, Mt. Olivet

Funeral services were held Monday for Mary Ryan, 80, who died late Thursday at her farm home southwest of Waukon. Rites were from the family home to St. Bridget’s church, Postville, at 9 a.m., with the Rev. Father Francis J. Vailaster officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery here.

Miss Ryan was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan, a lifelong resident of the farm where she was born April 24, 1876. Three sisters remain: Elizabeth Ryan, on the home farm, Sister M. Marian of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. William Drew, and there is one brother, Thomas, also on the home farm.

Mary Ryan Rites

Funeral services were held at St. Bridget's Church in Postville on Monday morning, August 13, for Miss Mary Ryan, daughter of pioneer residents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan. Miss Ryan, 80, was born April 24, 1876 on the Ryan homestead where she spent her entire life. She died Thursday night, August 9, following a long illness.

She is survived by three sisters, Sister M. Miriam of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Will Drew of Waukon, and Miss Elizabeth at home, who cared for her sister during her long illness. One brother, Tom Ryan, also lives on the home farm.

The remains reposed at the family home until Monday morning when a Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Pastor, the Rev. F. J. Vallaster at St. Bridget's Church. Burial was made in Mount Olivet Cemetery near Waukon.

The following relatives from a distance attended the Funeral: Sister M. Miriam of Cedar Rapids; Miss Loretta Ryan of Webster City; Mr. Thomas Clark of Knoxville; Mr. and Mrs. James L. Drew of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Drew of Charles City and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Drew of Austin, Minnesota.
