Dr Lytle Is Taken By Death

Dr. Carl Carruth Lytlre, MD, 68-year-old Dubuque physician , died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the family residence, 1325 Delhi street. He had practiced medicine here for the last 27 years.
The body is resting at the Egelhof funeral home, where friends may call after Friday noon.
Last rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. John E. Flockhart, rector of St. John's Episcopal church. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery.
Dr. Lytle was born Jan. 21, 1880 in Sterling, Ill., and attended the schools there. After his graduation from Drake university, Des Moines, he completed his study of medicine at the State University of Iowa, being graduated there in 1903.
On Nov. 21, 1906, Dr. Lytle was married to the former Olive Ede, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Ede of Dubuque. He practiced medicine in Lansing, Ia., until World war I, in which he served as a captain in the army medical corps.
Uopn his discharge from the army he took up his speciality, diseases of children, and studied at both the Lying in hospital and Bellevue hospital in New York City. He came to Dubuque from New York 27 years aago.
During World war II, Dr. Lytle served as an examining physician for the local draft board No. 2. He also served for a time as city health director. He was a member of the American Legion and a 32nd degree Mason.
Dr. Lytle was a member of the American Medical association and of the Dubuque County Medical association. He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Dr. Ralph E. Lytle, Dubuque, and Dr. Eugene C. Lytle, of Iowa City; and one granddaughter, Renee.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dr. William Lytle....... illegiable after this.
