Joseph F. Ryan Funeral Monday
Funeral services for Joseph F. Ryan of Clinton street, were held Monday morning from Martin’s funeral home at 9:00 o’clock to St. Patrick’s church. Burial followed in Mount Olivet cemetery with the following serving as pall bearers:
Leonard O’Brien, P. H. Gallagher, Charles Tierney, Leo Devitt, Leo Cunningham and Thomas Mullaney.
Mr. Ryan died Thursday at the Veterans Memorial hospital due to pneumonia and heart complications, he having been in failing health the past year.
Joseph Francis Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan, was born April 3, 1885, in Ludlow township, where he attained manhood and engaged in farming until 1937 when Waukon became the family home.
On Feb 20, 1917, he was married to Celia Cunningham. She survives with three sons and a daughter. They are Joseph, San Francisco, Calif.; Leo, Denver Colo; James and Margaret of Waukon. All were present and a comfort to their mother at the last sad rites.
There are four sisers (sic) and two brothers living, Mary, Thomas and Elizabeth Ryan, Ludlow township, Mrs. William Drew, Waukon; James Ryan, Webster City and Sister Marian, instructor in the Sacred Heart convent at Waterloo. They all joined the family circle here with the exception of James. There are two
