Left;Rites in St. Boniface Church
GARNER—Funeral services for Mrs. John Roach, 64, were held Monday morning at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. M. J. Manternach in charge. Born in Postville April 3, 1873, Rose Hamilton came to Garner with her parents. She was married here to John Roach on Nov. 20, 1894. They lived at Buffalo Center for a few years and Garner had been their home for the past 23 years.
Surviving are her husband, John, and 12 children, four sisters and four brothers. The children are Mrs. Emil Gelmer, Dave Roach, Mrs. Leo Schmidt, Mrs. Quinten Geddes, Charles, Morris and Miss Theresa Roach, Mrs. Victor Gelmer and Mike, all living in or near Garner, Mrs. Ed Thul of Clarion and John and Edward living in the state of Washington. Genevieve and Elizabeth died in young womanhood.
The brothers are Tom Hamilton of Garner, Steve Hamilton of Logan, Joe and Frank of Estherville and, sisters, Mrs. Kate Church, Forest City; Mrs. Anna Kelley, Mrs. Mayme Doud, Estherville, and Mrs. Jack Forsythe, San Mato, Cal.
Mrs. Roach, had been ill for the past: six months and died early Saturday in her home from heart trouble and complications. Pallbearers were Mat Becker, Louis Schleusner,: Dr. Thomas McMahon, Louis Schmidt, Peter Becker and Peter Engstler. Interment was in St. Boniface cemetery west of Garner.From the Globe-Gazette (Mason City, Iowa) May 11, 1937
