CLARK, Oct. 27 —Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Charles E. Payne, of Doland at the Methodist Church, Payne was born at Postville, la. July 6, 1873, and came to Doland in 1904, where he has since resided.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Williamson, and one granddaughter, Lola, and a grandson, Edward, who live in Doland; also, three sisters. His wife, one son and one daughter preceded him in death in addition to three brothers and three sisters.

Charles Edward Payne died 23 Oct 1948.
The 1880 Federal Census
lists him as age 6. The 1885 Iowa Census
lists Winneshiek County as place of birth. Buried Doland cemetery, Spink co. S. Dak.
