Frieda Bauman Dies of Heart Attack Tuesday

Death came suddenly yesterday afternoon about 2:30 o’clock to Miss Frieda Bauman as she was talking with Mrs. Alfred Pohlman in front of their shoe store on Main Street in Lansing. Earlier in the afternoon she had been visiting with her sister, Mrs. Will Lenz, and had gone to the Post Office to mail a letter. She had made a few casual remarks to Mrs. Pohlman when stricken with a heart attack and fell on the sidewalk, death resulting is a few moments.

This highly esteemed lady was born December 29th, 1870 at the old homestead in Lansing township, a daughter of Samuel and Christine Bauman, early pioneers of that community. She was educated in the rural schools of that community, and as she never married, much of her life was spent at home. Her father passed away in 1906 and she cared for her mother until the latter’s death about 1920. Later she moved to town and has since made her home with her sister, Miss Ada. Besides the above named sisters, immediate survivors include two other sisters, Mrs. Katie Marti, Church; and Mrs. Fanny Busse of Avoca; six brothers, namely, Freeman, Church; Rev. B.R. Bauman, Bloomington, Wis.; Rev. G.B. Bauman, Minden, Ia.; Emanuel, Mason City; Herman and Arthur Bauman, Gregory, S.D. Preceding her in death were one sister, Mrs. Johanna Becker and three brothers, Rudolph, Samuel, and John.

Her passing was a great shock to relatives and friends and at this writing, Wednesday morning, the funeral services have not been fully completed, but it is likely they will take place Friday afternoon, with the Rev. L.C. Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Lansing Ridge cemetery.

Please note that the transcriber was not related to Miss Bauman, and has no further information.
