The Rev. J.R. Lindbloom, well known retired minister of Waukon, died late Sunday at the family home from a heart ailment, from which he has suffered for several years.

The death of Rev. Lindbloom brings to a close a life of usefulness benefited by his family and scores of parishioners and friends.

Rev. Lindbloom was born March 28, 1864 in Sweden and when five years of age came with his parents to this country and settled on a homestead in Union County, S.D. Here grew to manhood and after completing his high school education he attended the State University at Vermillion, S.D., and his theological training was received at Morgan’s Park Seminary near Chicago.

In 1899 he was ordained at Big Spring, S.D., and served as supply pastor for several months in Sioux City and Colorado and in November 1899 he became pastor of the Center Baptist Church, where he served for five years. He then returned to South Dakota, where he served in different places as pastor and in November 1923 he again accepted the pastorate of the Center Baptist Church, which position he most capably filled until he retired in1943 and moved to Waukon. In all he served for over 25 years as pastor of this church.

On August 9, 1898 he was married to Miss Minnie Anderson at Denver, Colorado, who survives him as does his son Harold, who is married and resides at home; a son, Paul, died in infancy. An only sister, Mrs. Hannah Johnson, of Excelsior, S.D., arrived Tuesday to attend the funeral services. There are three grandchildren.

The remains will repose at the family home until Thursday afternoon at 1:30 when brief services will be held and at 2:30 funeral services will be held at the Swedish Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. L.D. Eaton. Burial will be made at the nearby cemetery. The honorary pallbearers will be Robert, David and Aldwyn Ahlstrom, Frank and Fred Erickson and Tony Ahlstrom. Active pallbearers are Roland and Clarence Shogren, Clifford and Charles Anderson, Alvin Ahlstrom and Milton Carlson.

Rev. Lindbloom will be sadly missed in the family home and his passing leaves a vacancy in church circles which will be hard to fill. In addition, he was a good neighbor and a friend to all.
