MARVIN SPIEGLER IS LAID AT REST
PASSED AWAY IN FAR NORTH WHERE HE WAS EMPLOYED ON ALASKAN HIGHWAY
Funeral services for Marvin Spiegler were held today from the Zion Reformed church in Waukon, with the pastor, the Reverend F.E. Stuckei, officiating. Mr. Spiegler passed away at Fort St. John, British Columbia, last week Wednesday, following a stroke suffered while packing his clothes to return to Waukon.
Mr. Spiegler, 36, left here last fall for British Columbia, where he had since been employed on the new Alaskan Highway. He had been hospitalized for two weeks at Fort St. John.
The body was brought to Waukon Tuesday accompanied by a representative of the contracting team and rested at the Martin Funeral home until today
Pallbearers were Henry Engrav, Elwood Lawson, George Colsch, Ed Sawvell, William Hancock and William Malvenna. Burial was made in Oakland Cemetery
Besides his wife, the former Florence Helming, he leaves his father, William Spiegler, who is employed in Lansing. His mother* preceded her son in death several years ago
Mrs. Spiegler is employed in the office of the county engineer. The court house remained closed this afternoon in tribute to Mr. Spiegler, who was an employee of the county before going to Alaska.

Waukon, Ia. - The body of Marvin Speighler (sic), 36, was en route here Saturday from St. John's, British Columbia, where he died Wednesday at a government hospital following a stroke. Mr. Speighler left for Canada about five weeks ago where he was to be employed on the Alaska highway project.
He was born in Allamakee County in 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Speighler. For several years he was employed by the county highway department.
Surviving are his widow, the former Florence Helming of Waukon, and his father.
