Ruth Johnson Dies At Waukon Hospital
Ruth B. Johnson, 85, of Waukon, died Friday, Nov. 14 at Veterans Memorial hospital.
Born Aug. 18, 1895 in Jefferson township, she was a daughter of George and Mary Douglass Ralston. She attended local schools and was married to LeRoy Johnson June 17, 1917 in Allamakee county. He died in 1944.
She is survived by four sons, Milbourne of Waukon, Orville of Phoenix, AZ, Harrison of Waukon and Levi of Bend, OR; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Ordway of Norwalk, CA and Mary Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Eugenia) Sass and Mrs. Ed (Doris) Wedo, both of Waukon, Mrs. Jessie Stocker of Artesia, CA, and Mrs. Florence Brandos of Hawthorne, CA, and two brothers, Earl Ralston of Postville and David Ralston of Hawthorne. She was preceded in death by a brother John and a sister Marie.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Martin funeral home. The Rev. Curtis Webster will officiate and burial will be in Smithfield cemetery. Pallbearers are Ray Van Gorde, Art Gelo, Lloyd Clark, Vernis Engelhardt, Harva Oelberg and Hartley Enyart Sr.
