MRS. SARAH LEPPERT

Mrs. Sarah Leppert, one of the few remaining pioneer settlers of Allamakee county, died Thursday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Swenson, who with her family reside on the former George Toney farm north of Waukon.

As Sarah Bulman she was born December 16, 1863, in Union City township and had she lived until Thursday would have celebrated her 90th birthday. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. George W. Bulman. There she grew to womanhood and on December 28, 1887 she was married to Andrew Leppert. They established their home on the Leppert farm near Mays Prairie where Mr. Leppert died on June 30, 1927. For some years Mrs. Leppert has made her home with her children.

She was the mother of 10 children, of whom two daughters and six sons survive. They are: Mrs. Lloyd Swenson and Mrs. Albert G. Oelberg, both of Waukon; Ralph Leppert, Monona; Dewey of Lansing; James of Waukon; William, of Seattle, Wash.; Oscar and Gilbert of Edgeley, N. D. There are 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grand children.

She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. John Shefelbine of Waukon and Mrs. Lydia Ebner of Cando, N. D.; Ray Bulman of Leeds, N. D. and James Bulman of Phoenix, Ariz.

The remains reposed at Martin Bros. funeral parlors until Sunday afternoon when funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A. H. Grossheim. Burial was made in the family lot in the Mays Prairie cemetery. Casket bearers were her six grandsons. A number of out of town relatives and friends were in attendance at the funeral services.
