His boyhood and youth were spent in England. Oct. 29, 1869, he was united in marriage to Miss Francis Norman. To this union nine children were born.
Deceased left England, March 24, 1886, bringing his family to America. The last thirty-two years of his life were spent in Lansing.
He leaves to mourn his death a devoted wife, one son James, of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Helsappel of LaCrosse, Wis., two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Gee of this city, and one sister and three brothers all in England.
He was a man respected by all the people of the community; a lover of his home and a patient sufferer in his sickness.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday afternoon by L. W. Soule, pastor M. E. church. The body was laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery.
