Funeral Services Held For Mrs. James Cole
Mrs. James (Isabel) Cole, 79, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, in a Waukon hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Burke Chapel. Rev. J. Paul Stevens officiated, and burial was in Oakhill Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Arthur, Hastings, Minn.; Harold, Chicago; and Raymond, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Clinton Lind, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Charles Gibbs and Mrs. Joseph Ferring, Lansing; a half-sister, Mrs. Pearl Billings, LaCrosse; and 24 grandchildren.
Her maiden name was Isabelle Riggs and on April 26, 1904 she was married to James Cole in Dubuque making her home in Lansing most of the time since. All of the children were home for the funeral services and casket bearers were Tade Olloff, Abner Eckberg, Albert Protsman, Odean Sandry, Glifford Gruber and Walter Clancy. Soloist was Geo. Aschom and accompanist Mrs. Kenneth Hanson.

Isabelle is noted to be the adopted daughter of James & Mary Flowers on the 1900 U.S. census. Her DOB being Aug. 1885 and birthplace Wisconsin._______________________________

Research Alert! An online family history of James Flowers indicates James & Mary Flowers (both buried Gethsemane) adopted a daughter named Isabelle. If correct, this family history explains why there is a discrepancy about Isabelle's maiden name.
