Gentleman Buried Wed.James Wm. Cole was born in Manea, England on June 7, 1873, coming to the United States when about nine years old. He came to Lansing which had always been his home.
He worked for Nielanders and the "Old Boat Store" as known by the old timers for a number of years, the Lansing Co., and various other jobs.
He was married to Isabelle Flower in Dubuque in 1904, and raised a family of 3 boys and 3 girls.
His wife passed away in Dec. 1964, from that time on his son Raymond took care of him until he was moved to a nursing home in Cresco for a short time where his death occurred. A son, Arthur preceded him in death in February, 1967.
Surviving are his sons, Raymond of Lansing; Harold of Chicago; daughters, Mrs. Charles (Edna) Gibbs, Mrs. Joseph (Alma) Ferring and Mrs. Clinton (Adell) Lind, all of Lansing. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 1:30 P.M. at the Burke Funeral Home with Rev. Ebert officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

LANSING, Iowa--- James Cole, 95, Lansing, died Sunday, July 21, in a Cresco nursing home, where he had been a resident only a few days.Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Burke Funeral Home in Lansing, Rev. Alvin Ebert officiating, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends were to call after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Cole was born June 7, 1873, in England and came to the United States at the age of nine. His wife died in 1954 (sic - should be 1964) and a son in 1957.
He is survived by two sons, Harold of Chicago and Raymond, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Charley (Edna) Gibbs, Mrs. Joseph (Alma) Ferring and Mrs. Clinton (Ardell) Lind, all of Lansing; 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
