Community Saddened by Death Of Mrs. DeWitt Stauffer Monday

The community and friends of Mrs. DeWitt Stauffer were shocked to learn that she had passed away at an early hour Monday morning. Three weeks ago she submitted to surgery at La Crosse and had been home for a week, convalescing as well as could be expected. The attending physician had visited her the evening previous and her sudden passing was entirely unlooked for, leaving her husband, the Rev. DeWitt Stauffer and mother , Mrs. S. G. Dawson, she was born January 19, 1911 at Washta. She graduated from the Grand Meadow consolidated schools and later attended Western Union college. After completing her education she taught at Fielding. Her marriage took place at Washta, May 7, 1938, and afew days later Rev. and Mrs. Stauffer came to lansing to assume the pastorate of the Calvary Evagelical church. Mrs. Stauffer was active in church work, a leader and advisor of the youth of the church. She was a member of the Missionary society and Ladies' Aid. Funeral services were conducted here Wednesday morning by the district superintendent, the Rev. I. L. Baumgartner of Cedar Falls, after which the body was transported to her home at Washta, where Thursday burial services were conducted by the Rev. H. O. Thompson of Le Mars, the minister who united them in marriage.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved so early in life.
