Fred Debner, of Ludlow, Passes Away on Friday

Fred E. Debner, 83, since 1885 a resident of this community, passed away Friday evening at his home in Ludlow township. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Lena Behrens of this city.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home in this city and at two o'clock in the Bethlehem Presbyterian church in Ludlow, the Rev. G. E. Reibert officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Debner was born as the son of Dietrich and Louise Debner at Estdorf, Hanover, Germany, September 9, 1860. On March 26, 1881, he was married to Louise Sophie Hartmann and to this union six daughters were born.

They came to the United States in October, 1885, with three daughters and settled first in Clayton county, Iowa. After a year's residence the family moved to Elkport where for five years Mr. Debner worked for farmers in that vicinity. Then he moved to Ossian where he rented a farm, remaining there for three years. The family then moved to Ludlow township where for four years he rented a farm and in 1900 bought the place which has since been the family home. Thirty-one years ago Mr. and Mrs. Debner retired from farming, but remained in a comfortable little home they had built on the old home farm.

Mr. Debner is survived by his wife and the following daughters: Mrs. Minnie Miller of Ludlow; Mrs. Louise Heuneman of Waukon, Mrs. Sophia (Albert) Nagel, Mrs. Lena (John) Nagel, Mrs. Callie (Fred) Hager and Mrs. Ella (John) Fiet, all of Ludlow.
