Mary K. Geers, age 45, of Walker, Iowa, died Mon., Nov. 25, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Funeral services were held Nov. 30, 2003, at Immaculate Conception Church with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, both in Lansing. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Mary Kay Hawes was born May 1, 1957, in Waukon, the daughter of Leo and Isabelle (Walleser) Hawes. She graduated from Kee High and attended Kirkwood College for one year. She married Scott Geers on Feb. 14, 1981, at Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford. They moved to Cedar Rapids after their marriage and lived there until moving to Walker in 1995. She is survived by her husband, Scott; three children, Melissa, Lindsay, and Scott, all of Walker; her parents Leo and Isabelle Hawes of Lansing; six siblings, Dick (Tammy) Hawes of Alma, Wis., Lea Ann (Donald) Peters of Lansing, Steve (Shirley) Hawes of Harpers Ferry, Jeff (Becky) Hawes of Waukon, David (Julie) Hawes of Lansing, and Deb (Brian) Benzing of Lansing. She was preceded in death by a brother, Scott.
