Julie Giesbrecht

Julie Ann Irene (Busch) Giesbrecht, 55, of Waukon and Rawley, formerly of Galena, IL, passed away peacefully after a short bout with cancer, Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. A family service was held Monday, May 12 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, IL and a funeral service was held Tuesday, May 13 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel with burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Galena, IL.

Julie was born October 9, 1952 in Hazel Green, WI, the daughter of Vincent and Berneice (Gehrts) Busch. She spent much of her life in Galena, IL before moving to Iowa for 11 years. Julie's entire life was spent taking care of others and cheering other people up. She was known for her fantastic humor. Julie worked in the nursing field as a care provider and with American Republic Insurance as an agent.

With her husband, Rich, she co-authored "R&J's 21st Century Joke-shun-ary". She was the author of several children books and songs. She is known worldwide by her friends for balancing objects such as paper. She was loved very much by family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She loved to travel worldwide with her husband.

Julie is survived by her husband, Richard; a son, Jason (Lindsey) Losh; two stepdaughters, Michele (Giesbrecht) Cole (James) and Melissa Giesbrecht; her father, Vincent Busch; two brothers, Paul and Roger Busch; three sisters, Susan (Joel) Arachikavitz, Evelyn Bross and Barbara (Mike) Reittinger; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; a brother, William; and a daughter, Janelle.
