Funeral services are being held at Casper, Wyoming on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. and also at 3:00 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa, as a memorial for Shane Rothmeyer who died of a tragic accidental gunshot wound on Nov. 6, 2002.

Shane Warren Rothmeyer, the son of Art Rothmeyer and the late Nancy (Livingood) Rothmeyer, was born Nov. 8, 1972 at Casper, Wyoming.

Shane attended Grant Grade School and Dean Morgan High School in Casper, graduating in 1991. He attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie, receiving two degrees in 2002. He also was employed the last six years in the Wildlife Management Program.

In the winters of 1997 and 1998 he went to Cody, WY to track trout using Radio Telemetry and received an award for archery. He also trapped beaver and implanted transmitters into them in order to relocate them later. Shane was sent to Rock Springs, WY in 1998 to conduct a survey of midget faded rattlesnakes for the Game and Fish Department.

He is preceded in death by his mother Nancy (Livingood) Rothmeyer and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Genevieve Rothmeyer. Shane is survived by his dad, Art Rothmeyer and Susan, a very special person who was there for Shane throughout his young life, his brother Shawn Rothmeyer and friend Sandy Ludwig, Shane's fiance Jessica Banister of Laramie, WY, and maternal grandparents, Bill and Roberta Livingood of Waukon, IA. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and friends.

Shane loved the outdoors as an avid fisherman, hunter and wildlife enthusiast.
