Ruth A. Clinton, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after a long illness, surrounded by her family.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Survivors include six sons, Erwin (Janet) Clinton, William (Pam) Clinton and Robert (Kay) Clinton, all of Cedar Rapids; Allen (Iva) Clinton of Norway, Iowa; James (Janie) Clinton of Tama, Iowa; and Eddie (Audrey) Clinton of Quinlan, Texas; four daughters, Carol Sawer of Marion, Iowa; Barbara (David) Hearron of Cedar Rapids; Elaine Myers of Quasqueton, Iowa; and Kathy Ballew (Richard Maviedo) of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Beulah Sires of Waukon, Iowa. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Larry Werner of Toledo, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and two daughters, Sherry Werner and Rosalee Bryan.

Ruth was born April 23, 1921, in Allamakee County, the daughter of Clifford and Viette (Sandry) Sadler. She married Erwin L. Clinton in 1938 in Dubuque. He died in 1969.

Ruth drove cab for several years and also worked at Wilson and Company for eight years. She loved her family with great passion and she in return was deeply loved and respected by her entire family. Ruth enjoyed fishing, dancing and an occasional trip to the casino.

She was going to a grand place in heaven for God has sent an angel to guard her on her way to this place he had prepared for her. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
