Robert Paul Schneider

Robert P. Schneider, 61, of Knoxville, formerly of Waukon, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Knoxville. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 27 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial with graveside military rites was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon handled arrangements.

Robert Paul Schneider was born September 19, 1946 in Postville, the son of Ray Elmoe and Ethel L. (Ludeking) Schneider. He was baptized at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School. From 1966 until 1968 Robert served in the US Navy, seeing a lot of his duty on the USS Collett and in San Diego, CA. He lived most of his life in Waukon but did spend a short time in both Strum, WI and Dubuque. His working career was spent doing a variety of jobs in the construction business. He also worked as custodian at what was then Quandahl Food Ranch in Waukon and in the food service department at Clarke College in Dubuque.

Robert was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4117 in Waukon. His special interests included being an avid fisherman, appreciating old and antique cars, and visiting with friends at sales and auctions.

Survivors include a brother, Richard of Dubuque; three aunts; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
