Linda Sue Bjerke

Linda S. Bjerke, 58, of Decorah died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at her home in Decorah. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 1 at 11 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon, with Pastor Judy Scheer officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery.

Linda Sue Bjerke was born July 25, 1949 in Waukon, the daughter of Ernest Milton and Lorna Arlene (Grotegut) Bjerke. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ and attended Frankville # 2 country school in rural Decorah and graduated from Waukon High School in 1967. Linda worked at a factory in Spring Grove, MN, for two years, before she went to work for Deco Products Company in Decorah, where she has worked for the past thirty seven years. Linda was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ and was a member of American Volkssport Association. Linda enjoyed walking, cross country skiing, reading, spending time outdoors on the family farm, taking pictures of nature, spending time with family and friends and collecting a variety of pins and medals. She was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include her mother, Lorna Bjerke of Waukon; three sisters, Janice Bjerke of Decorah, Julie (Gene) Curtis of Marion and Kristi (Mitchell) Davis of Waukon; three nieces, Kristen, Colleen and Ashley Curtis and five nephews, Paul Curtis, Wallace, Andrew and Joshua Davis and Nolan Temple. She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest.

Casketbearers were Steve Grotegut, Randy Loeb, Loren Beneke, Marvin Adam, Bob and Lynn Bjerke.
