Sarah Jane Sires, wife of John Sires, died at her residence on English Bench Wednesday morning, April 5, 1882, aged 34 years, 3 months and 6 days. The funeral will take place this Friday morning at 10 o'clock from the English bench school house. Mr. Levi Green will conduct the services.

The deceased was a daughter of Mr. James Duff of Union City township. She leaves her husband and family of seven small children, the younger of whom is a mere babe, in the deepest gloom of grief.

Mr. George Bullman who brought in the sad news of her death informs us that Mary Ann, a young lady about fifteen, Mr. Sires' oldest and only daughter, excepting the youngest child, also lies at the point of death. Her physician has given up all hope of her recovery, and yesterday her demise was momentarily expected. It is to be hoped that this unfortunate man and family may be spared this double affliction. Three of the younger children are also quite sick with the measles.

The desolation of this home calls forth the most sincere sympathy of the community. Mrs. Sires and Mary were taken with the measles three or four weeks ago, and a week or ten days ago, the disease turned to typhoid fever of a malignant type.

Since the above was in type we learn that the daughter, Mary Ann, died Thursday morning, thus following her mother in twenty-four hours to the eternal shores of the blessed. Her age was 15 years, 5 months and 28 days.

There is a world above,
Where parting is unknown.
A whole eternity of love,
Form'd for the good alone.
And faith beholds the dying here,
Translated to that happier sphere.

Thus star by star declines,
Till all are pass'd away,
As morning high and higher shines,
To pure and perfect day.
Nor sink those stars in empty night,
They hide themselves in heaven's own light.
