The death of John H. Spiegler occurred at Waukon on December 4, 1965. He had been in ill health for more than a year. Funeral services were held from St. Lukes United Church of Christ, Eitzen, Minnesota, on Tuesday afternoon, December 7, with the Rev. Mel Graupman officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

John Henry Spiegler was born on September 27, 1894, in Union City township, a son of Barney and Mary (Landmeier) Spiegler. He was married to Ella Meyer at Waukon on January 14, 1920. They farmed in Union Prairie township until 1915, since which time they have lived in Waukon where he was employed as a meat cutter at the locker plant.

Surviving are his wife and three children, Mrs. Arnold(Arvilla) Ohlgren of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Dale and Glen Spiegler of Waukon. A daughter, Dorothy Mae, passed away in infancy. There are 7 grandchildren. The following brother and sisters also survive: Frank Spiegler and Mrs. Clarence Bulman of Dorchester, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Abbott of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Mrs. Anna Buckendahl of Waukon; and Mrs. Albert Meyer of New Albin, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Roland Herman, Leonard Davis, Elmer Meiners, Alvin Meyer, Clarence Meyer and Herman Hagen.

Martin Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
