Bernice Marie (Meyer) Wild 1913 - 2008

Bernice Marie (Meyer) Wild, 94, of New Albin was called home by the Lord Monday, January 21, 2008 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services were held Friday, January 25 at St. Peter's Christian Community Church, New Albin, with Rev. Dr. William J. Reese officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's Memorial Cemetery. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home of Caledonia is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice was born August 28, 1913 at home in New Albin to Albert and Louise (Spiegler) Meyer. Bernice attended New Albin High School, where she played basketball. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught at rural schools. December 31, 1934, Bernice married Kermit John Wild and he preceded her in death in February of 1972. December 22, 1979, she married Floyd Wild and he preceded her in death October 3, 1990.

In addition to playing basketball in her school years, Bernice enjoyed watching basketball and baseball. She also enjoyed watching game shows on the television and embroidering. Bernice was a member of the St. Peter's Christian Community Church in New Albin, where she served on the Women's Fellowship, and she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Kenneth Casey Post #5603 of New Albin.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly (Norman) Dresselhaus; two sons, Wendell (Marilyn) Wild and David (Linda) Wild; and a daughter-in-law, Ardyce Wild, all of New Albin; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Wuennecke of New Albin; two step-children, Joyce Schroeder of Caledonia, MN and Burton (Jean) Wild of New Albin; eight step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first and second husbands, Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Curtis Wild; one brother, Kermit Meyer; one brother-in-law, Edgar Wuennecke; and one step son-in-law, Tom Schroeder.
