Clarence Washington Bulman 1901 - 1978

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon for Clarence W. Bulman, 77. Clarence Bulman passed away very suddenly on Wednesday evening, August 16, 1978, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Clarence was born June 19, 1901, at Leeds, North Dakota, to George W. and Anna (Weber) Bulman. At the early age of one year his mother passed away. When Clarence was two years old his father met a tragic death caused by asphyxiation while attempting to clean a cistern on his homestead near Leeds, North Dakota. Clarence and his older brother, Floyd, who was four years old, were raised by their maternal grandparents, the Herman Webers, near Eitzen, Minnesota, and also by their aunt, Miss Minnie Weber, who was with the Salvation Army, Chicago, Illinois. He was educated in the local country school, graduated from high school in Chicago, Illinois and finished two years at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.

Clarence was married on September 4, 1925, to Mary Spiegler of New Albin, Iowa, in Minnesota. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Colleen) Nash of Waukon; and Mrs. James (Betty) Snitker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons, Barton of Caledonia, Minnesota; and Gary of Waukon; seventeen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter, Kimberly Bulman, is deceased as well as his brother, Floyd, of Corvallis, Oregon.

He was a farmer except for the five years he worked at the power plant, Lansing, Iowa. He retired from the farm and moved to Waukon in 1967. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Waukon.

PallbearerS were Rick Snitker, Mike Tiernan, Gary Gregg Bulman, Steve Bulman, Bruce Bulman, Clark Bulman, Tom Grinna and Daniel Shukere. Rev. William Tjaden officiated at the services. Burial was in Oakland cemetery, Waukon.

Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
