JESS UHL
Jess Uhl, son of John and Ann Uhl, was born in Post township, November 14, 1883 and passed away at the Veterans' Memorial Hospital at Waukon, June 18.
Mr. Uhl received his education in the Evergreen Rural School in Post township and grew to manhood in this community.
On November 6, 1907, he was united in marriage to Cecil Gordanier of Postville. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. john (Lulu) May of Muscatine. Mr. Uhl was a lifelong resident of Allamakee county. He was engaged in farming his own farm in Post township for 40 years, later purchasing a farm near Waukon where he remained until he retired four years ago and moved to Waukon.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Cecil; his daughter, Lulu; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Deering and Mrs. Stella Cook.
Jess was a successful farmer and stockman, interested in all phases of agriculture.
Funeral services were held from the Martin Funeral home in Waukon Friday, June 21, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery at Waukon.
