MRS. JOHN OLIVER (Ida Brown) THRUSH

The long and eventful life of Mrs. Ada Thrush came to an end September 15, 1953, in Postville, where it began 84 years ago on June 11, 1869. As the daughter of Dr. Luther and Ella Lyons Brown, she attended Postville schools, was graduated from the Cornell College Conservatory of Music at Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and later attended art school in Minneapolis. On May 7, 1891, she was united in marriage to John Oliver Thrush, a native of West Virginia and a recent emigrant to Iowa where he was pastor of the Congregational Church of Postville. As a minister's wife, she lived and worked in the churches at Postville, Spencer, and Webster City, and in 1918 came to River Falls, Wisconsin where Rev. Thrush served until his retirement in 1926. He preceded her in death in 1936. Mrs. Thrush is survived by three children: Waldo, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Marian Mann, Warren, Ohio; and Carol Rouse, New York City.
