Elizabeth (Betty) Ferring

Elizabeth (Betty) J. Ferring, 81, passed away at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing Thursday, December 6, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, with the Rev. Daniel Knipper and Msgr. Edward Lechtenberg concelebrating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing.

Betty was born March 12, 1926 to Henry and Inga (Evenson) Ferring of rural Lansing. She graduated from Lansing's Immaculate Conception High School. Upon graduation, she began working full-time for Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank in Lansing until her retirement in 1997.

Betty meant so much to so many people. Being a lifetime resident, she knew most of the local people in the community and her kindness touched many of their lives in one way or the other. She loved to travel, her bowling league, golfing, card club, and watching high school basketball and the Chicago Cub games.

But most of all Betty loved spending time with her sisters and her family of 13 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces/nephews, 25 great-great-nieces/nephews, and 2 great-great-great nephews. Her family feels so blessed to have had Aunt Betty as part of their lives. She was a precious and extraordinary part of their family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two nephews, Tom Schwartzhoff (Lansing) and Jerry Livingston (Harpers Ferry); and three sisters, Helen Spinner and Dorothy Schwartzhoff (both from Lansing), and Ruth Livingston (Harpers Ferry).

Casketbears were Steve McCormick, Mike McCormick, Michael Tierney, John Schwartzhoff, Heidi Darling and Jody Spinner.
