Reva Lawson

Reva L. Lawson, 90, of Waukon, IA, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 7, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was in Postville Cemetery, Postville, IA. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Reva Leone Adams was born July 4, 1915 on her parents' farm in rural Luana, IA, the daughter of Orrin C. and Ada Pearl Burnham Adams. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Luana and confirmed as an adult at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. Reva attended rural country schools in Allamakee County and Postville High School.

August 30, 1933 she married Cloy William Lawson at the Presbyterian Manse in Waukon, by Rev. R. L. Van Nice. Reva and Cloy rented various farms before purchasing the William Lawson Farm in rural Postville in 1947. Reva assisted Cloy with the daily farm operation and loved to take care of the farm animals. She raised Pomeranian registered dogs. They moved to Waukon in 1979. Reva has been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center since August of 2003.

Reva was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its ladies circles. She was also a charter member of the Post-Franklin Study Club in Postville. She enjoyed quilting which she had made for several of her family members, crocheting afghans, cooking, taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens and spending time with her family and friends. Reva had a genuine spirit of love, strength and humor, which she was happy to share with all her family, neighbors and friends throughout her life.

Survivors include her 6 children, Doris Ann Lyons of Clearwater, FL, Clinton (Donna) Lawson of Chino Valley, AZ, Karen LaPage of Wood Dale, IL, Janeen Olson of Harmony, MN, David (Kristin) Lawson of Hope, ME and Janice (Jerry) Holdiman of Evansdale, IA; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law- Daphne Lawson of Jacksonville, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Cloy, who died in 1999; a son, Roger; a son-in-law, Danford Olson; and a brother, Harold Adams; a granddaughter and 2 great-granddaughters.

Honorary casketbearers were members of the Post-Franklin Study Club. Casketbearers were Troy Beringer, Tom, Tim and Nathan Olson, Joseph Lawson, Todd Erickson, Dan Lundtvedt and Lance Wysong.
