Andree S. Burrett, 82, of Waukon, died Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Andree Sophia was born November 8, 1922, in Clermont, Iowa, to LeRoy “Roy” and Bertha “Mary” (Anderson) Tatro. She was baptized and confirmed at the East Clermont Lutheran Church, attended Clermont Elementary Schools, and graduated from Clermont High School in 1940.
On November 8, 1942, she married Robert S. Burrett in Clermont. They lived in West Union for a number of years before moving to Waukon in 1955. Andree worked a variety of jobs for local businesses in the Waukon area throughout the years. She was involved with the Lutheran Circle while in Clermont, and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a past president of the VFW Auxiliary in Waukon. She had a love for sewing and made doll clothes and blankets for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also sewed quilt tops for East Clermont Lutheran Church. Andree loved to play cards and bingo as well as spend time with her family, relatives, and friends.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary (Gordy) Lubahn of Byron, Minn., Pamela (Kenny) Berding of Walker, Minn., Terry (Donald) Johnson of Waukon, Nancy (Gary) Welper of Gillette, Wyo., Dawn (Richard) Blocker of Waukon, and Penny (Dave) Wheeler of Postville; five sons, James (Mary K.) of Becker, Minn., Robbie (Brenda) of Waterville, Iowa, Donald of Atlanta, Ga., Keith (Margaret) of Waukon, and Wayne (Cynthia) of Waukon; 32 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Stee of Castalia, Iowa, and Alice Nelson of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Roy (Bonnie) Tatro of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
Andree is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert, who died in 1984; an infant child; four infant grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Tann, Irene Cooney, and Stella Talley; and two brothers, Clarence and Orval Tatro.
Honorary casketbearers are her granddaughters, Kim (Lubahn) Vehrenkamp, Krista (Burrett) Rainer, Kara (Burrett) Lupinik, Diane (Burrett) Roth, Leah (Burrett) Rosendahl, Melissa (Johnson) Buckman, Denise (Johnson) Baty, Jil Welper, Stephanie (Blocker) Riggert, Andrea and Sarah Blocker, Jennifer King, and Bridget, Dawn, Kelly, Jenni, Jessie, and Leslie Burrett. Casketbearers are her grandsons, Kevin Lubahn, Jeff, John, Robert, David, and Josh Burrett, Kenny and Eric Berding, Clint and Joe Johnson, Michael, Robert, and Brian Welper, and Michael Blocker.
