Owen Leonard Todd

Owen Leonard Todd, age 45, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2004 as a result of a stroke suffered on Saturday, May 9. Owen was born December 14, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois. He is a 1977 graduate of Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois. He graduated from Winona State College in 1982 with degrees in physical education and recreation/leisure studies.

While at Winona State he met Sandra Sue Turner, whom he married on August 29, 1981, in Postville, Iowa. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Winona, where he served as deacon and church moderator.

Owen was employed at Lawrence Transportation since May 9, 1994, where he was manager of the Federal Mogul warehouse. He was a long-time participant and coach in Winona sports leagues, especially softball and volleyball.

Owen is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Dorothy Fisher and David and Mildred Todd, uncle Clark Shelton, and sister-in-law Marilyn Turner. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Sandy, and their three sons, David, Marcus and Michael. He is also survived by his father Donald Todd of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and his wife Nina; his mother Suzanne Todd of Akron, Ohio; siblings Darrell Todd of Edina, Minnesota, Alison Weimer of Akron, Ohio, and Julie Roemer of Chaska, Minnesota; Sandy's parents Boyd and Merle Turner of Postville; brothers- and sisters-in-law Deb Todd, Andy Weimer, Tom Roemer, Bruce and Sherilyn Turner, Doug and Shelly Turner, Kent and Joanne Turner; aunts and uncles Warren and Charlotte Fisher, Aurelia (Toddy) McCullum, Alice and Robert Swaim, and Margaret Shelton; cousins Debbie Crosley, Cheryl Glenn, Brian Fisher, Duane Fisher, Laurel Ann Shelton and Gerald Shelton; and dear friend Lori Schuetzle. Adored by nieces and nephews Caroline Roemer; Don, Danny and Derek Todd; Holly and Katrina Weimer; Nate and Sara Turner and Sarah's daughter Carly; Karith Humpal and daughter Kaitlyn; and Jessica and Joseph Turner.

Family and friends gathered on Saturday, May 15 at First Congregational Church of Winona to celebrate Owen's life and share their memories of him. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, MN.

The family is thankful for the thoughtful care of Dr. Charles Shepard, Winona Hospital, and the doctors and staff of Mary Brigh Unit 8D of St. Mary's Hospital. The unwavering support of the Reverend Rick King and Natalie Schoen was appreciated, as was the support of many friends.
