Glenna Enyart

Glenna Joanne Enyart, age 74, of Postville entered into God's Kingdom Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2007, in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with Pastor Gary Catterson officiating.

Glenna Joanne Jarmes was born in Monona July 7, 1933, the only daughter of Glen and Beatrice Minerman Jarmes. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church in Monona.

In Monona, the Jarmes family ran a town dairy. Glenna remembered washing milk bottles as a child in the basement. After her father returned from the Navy in World War II, the family moved to Postville, where her father opened a grocery store.

Glenna graduated from Postville High School in 1951, where she was very active in vocal music.

August 26, 1951, Glenna was married to Robert Enyart in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. To this union two sons and a daughter were born: Charles, Catherine, and Christopher. Bob was a farmer, so the town gal became a farmer's wife. She even learned to drive a tractor. While her children were growing up, she was a stay at home mom, and very active in her church. She loved directing the youth choir for many years. She was president of the U.P.W., and rose to the ranks of Vice President of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies.

When her children were grown, she worked at the Postville School as a lunch room supervisor for eight years, and then at Iowa Turkey Products as a labeler for 11 years. Glenna enjoyed her home and family. She loved going to all the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family and friends meant everything to her.

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Lucy Jarmes; a brother-in-law, Myrten Strong; two nieces, Julie Jarmes and Cindy Strong; and two nephews, Alan Jarmes and Randy Schroeder.

Glenna is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob; her children, Charles (Dennis) Enyart of Santa Fe, NM, Catherine (Kermit) White of Postville, and Christopher (Kelly) Enyart of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stocker of Postville, Jeremiah (Jessica) White of West Union, Kim (Ryan) Enyart of Farmington, NM, Scott Allen and Amanda Enyart of Albuquerque, NM; seven great-grandchildren, Jasmine, JT, and Kaden Stocker, Kaleb and Kyler White, and Ryanne and Ryan Enyart.

Also surviving are four brothers, Jim (Dorothy) Jarmes of Postville, Jack (Janet) Jarmes of Muskego, WI, Jay (Judy) Jarmes of Big Spring, TX, and Jon Jarmes of Pasadena, CA; two sisters-in-law, Mary Strong and Ellen Schroeder, both of Elgin; many nieces and nephews; and her dear and beloved friends.
