Leonard H. Geno, age 87, of Ferryville, WI died Monday, October 29, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2 at 11 a.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main (Hwy 82) in DeSoto, WI. Pastor Libby Howe will officiate with burial in the Ferryville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday after 10 a.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in DeSoto.
Leonard was born January 21, 1920 in Luana, the son of Joseph and Mary (McShane) Geno. October 28, 1943 he was united in marriage to Ruth A. Hager. Leonard farmed for many years and he also worked at the button factory in Lansing from 1967 to 1972. In 1972 Leonard and Ruth purchased what was known as Geno's Bar and Grill in Ferryville and owned and operated it until retiring in 1980. Leonard loved hunting and fishing and he and Ruth enjoyed dances Saturday nights.
He is survived by four children, Ivanelle (Ben) Saenz of California, Julie Geno of Kenosha, WI, Rick (Helen) Geno of Rothschild, WI, and Marsha Geno of LaCrosse; six grandchildren, Doug Saenz, Nicole Quackenbush, Julie Lueck, Angela Geno, Allison Haller, and Amber Geno; two great-grandchildren, Mattie Quackenbush and Trent Geno; and one brother, LaVerne (Anna Mae) Geno of Waukon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clifford, February 5, 1994; his wife, Ruth, January 11, 1995; and two sisters, Ruth Schutte and Jesse Lund.
The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of DeSoto, WI is serving the family.
