Helen Luella Gilbertson, 91, of Elgin died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union following a long illness. Memorial Services were held Saturday, October 20 at East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont, with Rev. Don Burg officiating. Inurnment followed in the East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery.

Luella was born March 25, 1916 in Litchville, ND to Gustav and Annie (Olson) Gilbertson. She was baptized and confirmed at North LaMoure Lutheran Church, Litchville, ND. She graduated in 1936 from Litchville High School.

Luella worked as a caregiver for 15 years at Aase Haugen Care Center, rural Decorah. She then worked as a dietary supervisor at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and history. Luella loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her four siblings, Amy (Ralph) Holen of Grand Rapids, ND, Rev. Harvey (Esther) Gilbertson of Fargo, ND, Hazel Olson of Elgin, and Dona Lansing of Clermont; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold Gilbertson; and two sisters, Palma Hill and Mildred Gilbertson.
