Final Rites For Helen Wirkler

Funeral services for Helen E. Wirkler were held Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Reverend Dennis E. Morey officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.

Helen Eileen Wirkler, daughter of Frank L. and Laura Isabel (Bloxham) Miller, was born June 15, 1918 in Franklin Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She passed away May 28, 1981 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

She graduated from the Luana Consolidated School. She was a member of the Methodist Church there, later transferring to the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.

September 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Page Wirkler. To this union were born three sons and a daughter.

Helen was a life-member of the Clayton County AMVET Post No. 27 Auxiliary, serving as president for a number of years. She was also a member of the Carlton E. Kenney VFW Post No. 9125 Auxiliary in Postville.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter in infancy.

Surviving are three sons: Allyn of Burnsville, MN; Neil of Postville; and John of Spencer, IA; a daughter-in-law, Lavon and two grandchildren, Scott and Barbara.
