CLEMENT HENRY "Clem" WATERS

Clement Henry "Clem" Waters, son of Robert Burton and Mary Ann (McKinley) Waters, was born Nov. 24, 1904 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, near Postville, Iowa. He died Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994 in the Aase Haugen home in Decorah. He was 89.

He attended the Grand Meadow School No. 6. On Aug. 27, 1929 he married Bernice Nina Eberling at Clermont by Father Hehir. To this union four children were born. They farmed in Grand Meadow Township until 1966, when they moved to Postville. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice, who died in 1990; a son, John Waters, who died in 1962; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Kermgard, who died in 1963; three brothers, Leonard, Louis and Ambrose, and two sisters, Helen Kneeland and Marie Leui.

Surviving are a son, William Waters and his wife Alicia of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; two daughters, Eva and her husband Lee Frederick of Gaithersburg, Md. and Joyce and her husband Gilbert Moore of Spokane, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Steven Waters, Michael Waters, Patrick Waters, Anne Baty, Julie Waters, Jean Waters, James Kermgard, Mark Kermgard, and David Kermgard; seven great grandchildren; and three brothers, Bernard Waters, Bertie Waters and his wife Mabel, and Paul Waters and his wife Kathryn, all of Postville.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1994 at St. Bridget Catholic church, Postville, the Rev. Roger L. Katz officiating. Carol Katsumes, organist, accompanied the soloist, Dr. Patrick Waters, and the St. Bridget Choir. The Schutte Funeral Service in Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dr. Steven Waters, Michael Waters, Dr. Patrick Waters, Anne Baty, Julie Waters, Jean Waters, James Kermgard, Dr. Mark Kermgard, David Kermgard.
