Mrs. LAWRENCE (Lillian Marie Snitker) JEIDE 1911-2000

Lillian M. Jeide, 89, of Waukon, died Thurs. Dec. 28, 2000 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Tues. Jan. 2, 2001 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon under the direction of Rev. Lynn G. Groe. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Lillian Marie Snitker Jeide was born on Sept. 17, 1911 on the rural Frankville farm of her parents, William and Martha (Grotegut) Snitker. She was baptized and confirmed in German at Salem United Church of Christ and attended rural Frankville area schools.

Following school, she did housekeeping for area families before marrying Lawrence A. Jeide on November 22, 1933 in Waukon. Lillian and Lawrence farmed together for many years before moving to Waukon in the early 1970's. She then worked as a nurse's aid at the Good Samaritan Center and for Allamakee County Homemakers.

Lillian spent several years helping raise her younger sisters following her parents death. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and its ladies circle. She enjoyed working in her yard and raising flowers, dancing, and having people stop at her home for visits. She was known for her hearty laugh and welcoming hospitality.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lawrence, a sister Stella Flage, and a half brother Alvin Snitker.

Survivors include a daughter Wilma (Larry) Bushman of Utica, Minnesota, a son Kenneth Jeide of Waukon; 5 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Viola Moen of Waukon, Ruth Meier of Ashboro, NC, Hilda Govin of West Bend, Wis. and Evangeline (Robert) Becker of West Allis, Wis. and 2 half sisters: LaVonne (Leonard) Tietz, Gladys (Ernie) Bloom of Janesville, Wis.

Casketbearers were Wayne and Scott Ehlenfeldt and Mark Bushman and Michael and Travis Jeide.

Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.

Submitter notes: Lawrence Jeide was the son of Casper and Mathilda (Becker) Jeide. Lawrence and Lillian's son Kenneth was born Oct. 19, 1939 and daughter Wilma was born December 14, 1944.
