Robert Barthell Dickson, age 91, former resident of Waukon and 1933 graduate of Waukon High School, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA after a massive heart attack.

Robert was born January 18, 1916 to Robert Eugene and Myrtle Barthell Dickson. He resided in Waukon until the family moved to Washington State in 1936. He served in the Navy during WW II as Radio Man on a destroyer escort in the North Atlantic.

Robert was married to Geraldine Chevrier of Bellingham and had one son, Mark Robert. He graduated from Western Wash College of Education, teaching at Columbia School in Bellingham. Robert married Mary Waring in 1955. He attended the Cordon Bleu School of Cooking and then taught college extension cooking classes. While continuing teaching, he and Mary enjoyed traveling here and abroad. After their retirement they moved to Palo Alto, CA. He enjoyed his artistic abilities, doing his oil paintings and gourmet cooking and treating many of the retirement friends until his eyesight limited him in all his activities.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 2005. He is survived by his son, Mark Robert, of Denver, CO; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John Page Dickson of Everett, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
