As was briefly mentioned last week, the death of Walter F. Mack occurred at 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, 1966, at a La Crosse, Wisconsin hospital after an illness of only eight days following a stroke.

He was born September 15, 1908, at New Albin, Iowa, a son of Dennis and Bridget Mack, and was educated in the local school. He served with the Air Force in World War II and since was employed as a postal clerk, living in Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois until 1964 when he moved to New Albin.

On April 22, 1964, he was married at Chicago to Mrs. Velma (Smith) Fink of New Albin, who survives. There are nine step-children, Rodney Fink of Waukon, Iowa; Donald "Pete" and John Fink of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lee "Joe" Fink and Mrs. Lloyd (Sheila) Colsch of New Albin; and Cheryl, Michael, Donna and Diane at home. Also surviving are two brothers, Cyril Mack of Chicago; and William Mack of Detroit, Michigan; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Brink of Cedar Lake, Indiana.

Mr. Mack was a member of the New Albin Community Club. His fellow members and a host of friends and relatives mourn his untimely death.

Military funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin. Rev. Edgar Kolfenbach offered the Mass of Requiem and said the graveside prayers at St. Joseph's Cemetery where interment was made.

Casketbearers were Norbert Schulte, Alvin Sires, Norbert Plagge, Don­ald Brink, Danny Kelleher and Raymond Burke.
