Deve J. Ford, 67, of Waukon, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a brief illness with cancer. Funeral services were held Friday, October 18, 2002, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted with arrangements. Deve Jane Ford was born on July 21, 1935, on the Franklin Township, rural Waukon, farm of her parents, Edward and Eva (Colvin) Fish. She attended school in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1954. On February 26, 1956, she married Harry Alden Ford at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. Deve worked for over 20 years at Northern Engraving in Waukon. She then started a 26 year career at the Good Samaritan Center, where she did a variety of things, most recently serving as dietary manager, until January of 2002. Deve enjoyed her work as a caregiver and loved taking care of people. She also enjoyed fishing and was particularly happy when spending time with her grandchildren. She was baptized at her home this past month by the Rev. Larry Olson. Survivors include a son, Clarke Ford of Waukon; two daughters, Linda McCormick of Waukon and Lisa (Brian) Selberg of La Crescent, Minn.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary (Roger) Pahl of Cedar Rapids and Uvina Knox of Minneapolis, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry; three brothers, Arthur, John, and Tom Fish; and two sisters, Elizabeth Kepler and Anna May Geinzer. Honorary casketbearers are her grandchildren, Jarad Gatton, Bryce McCormick, and Jessica, Sarah, and Kayla Selberg. Casketbearers are Darrell Ford, Mike Handke, Steve Fish, Larry Pahl, Dave Knox, and Terry Ford.
